How to parry in Dinoblade
Parrying is the center of Dinoblade’s combat — the game’s own achievements (“PARRY GOD”, “PARRYSAUR!”) tell you the developers expect you to learn it. Here’s what works, with every claim labeled by source.
The core loop
- Deflect, don’t just block. A timed block (deflect) negates the hit and builds the boss’s Resolve Bar. ✓ corroborated
- Perfect parries unlock the Instinct Counter — when the Resolve Bar fills, you can trigger a heavy counterattack for major damage. This is the main damage window on Alphas. ✓ corroborated
- Incoming-attack cues: demo-era guides describe a red-glint telegraph on attacks that must be dodged rather than parried. We’re re-verifying the exact rules in the 1.0 build. community-reported
Weapon choice matters
- Players in the boss-help threads report the greatsword class lands critical hits on every deflect — making it the natural parry-build weapon. community-reported
- The axe class reportedly regenerates stamina faster, useful if bosses keep chipping your stamina through blocks. community-reported
- One summon is reported to heal you on parry — players recommend it for the hardest fights. community-reported
What the numbers say
23% of players have deflected 100 times (PARRY GOD) — so roughly one in four players who own the game parry routinely. A second, hidden parry achievement (PARRYSAUR!, at 20%) suggests a harder challenge beyond the counter — its trigger is unconfirmed, and we’d love a report if you unlock it. ✓ Steam-verified
Where to practice
Kira, the Exile is the game’s parry teacher — readable three-hit strings and a charge you can deflect on reaction. Get the Instinct Counter rhythm down there before Kasei, whose second phase punishes slow reactions hard.
